Overview
The TESOL Teacher Training Program allows participants to learn teaching techniques, methods and practical application while improving their English and immersing themselves in American culture. The program is one month in duration on CSUSB campus and is held during the summer or winter quarter.
Program includes:
- Teacher observations at the university and local schools for practical application of the content studied.
- Classes taught at CSUSB with university professors and local elementary school and high school teachers to learn about the techniques and methods used with California’s extensive and diverse English language learner population.
- Stay on campus for easy access to campus facilities and activities.
- Excursions to local cultural attractions such as Los Angeles, Hollywood, Universal Studios, Ontario Mills Outlets, and more.
Topics covered may include:
- An overview of the American and California school systems
- Methods for teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Student-centered instruction
- Classroom management skills
- Speaking skills
- Literature circles
- Graphic organizers
- Multisensory instruction
- Learning strategies
- Technology in the classroom
- Alternative assessment
How to Apply
- Complete the Application form.
- Include bank or financial statement showing a minimum of $3,923
- Include copy of passport
