Overview

The Post-Graduate Certificate (PGC) Program in National Cybersecurity Studies is designed to prepare graduate students with advanced skills and critical knowledge to address today's most pressing cyber threats. The program emphasizes the development of expertise for roles in government, defense, and private sectors where cybersecurity and national security converge, making graduates competitive for roles across a variety of sectors.

Through focused coursework in international relations, critical analysis, and national security, the PGC equips students with the foundational skills necessary to critically analyze complex issues in national and global cybersecurity, and effectively respond to the sophisticated cyber threats facing today's organizations. This foundation can prepare students to pursue further graduate study or to develop and apply this critical set of professional skills in the community.

This program is designed for graduate students seeking:

  • to work in government agencies, the military, or private sectors contributing to national security, such as defense contractors or critical infrastructure firms
  • to gain advanced knowledge in national and international cybersecurity policies, critical for addressing modern cyber threats and protecting essential infrastructures
  • to prepare for further graduate study in cybersecurity, equipping students to develop expertise for roles in government, defense, and related fields

The PGC Program in National Cybersecurity Studies can be used as a pathway toward CSUSB’s MS in National Cybersecurity Studies program. Students who successfully complete their PGC program can apply their twelve (12) PGC credits to the MS in National Cybersecurity Studies program. However, PGC graduates are not automatically admitted to MS in the National Cybersecurity Studies program; they must apply separately to the program and meet its academic and other requirements.
