Lower Division Transfer
The transfer process is different if you’re coming from a school in the United States or outside the country with less than 60 transferable units (or 90 quarter units). Please select the correct option below for details on how to transfer to CSUSB.
General Application Requirements
Below are the general requirements for applying to the university as a lower division international transfer student:
- Meet academic requirements of a first-year student
- Transfer in good standing from the last college/university attended
- Academic requirements (see details below)
- English language proficiency (see details below)
- English translation of non-English documents
- International Application CSUApply
- Submission of financial support statement (bank statement)
- Copy of passport
Requirements for an Undergraduate Transfer from a Foreign School
If you’ve been attending a foreign college or university, please use the information below to complete your application
- Academic Requirements:
- Minimum 2.0 overall college GPA
- Official transcripts sealed in an envelope by your school (Official transcripts are required from all institutions attended.)
- English Language Proficiency Requirement can be met by:
- TOEFL (iBT 61 or PBT 500) or IELTS (5.5 total band score). Must be valid within the last two years.
- Successful completion of level 3 of CSUSB English Language Program

Requirements for an Undergraduate Transfer from a U.S. College
If you’ve been attending a college or university in the United States, please use the information below to complete your application:
- Academic Requirements:
- Minimum 2.0 overall college GPA
- Official transcripts sealed in an envelope by your school
- English Language Proficiency Requirement can be met by:
- TOEFL (iBT 61 or PBT 500) or IELTS (5.5 total band score). Must be valid within the last two years.
- Successful completion of level 3 of CSUSB English Language Program
- Equivalent freshman composition course passed with a grade of “C-” or better
