About

The Office of Student Research (OSR) Student Research Collaborative Council (SRCC) at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) serves as a dynamic bridge between students and the OSR. The Council facilitates research funding opportunities, supports the OSR office, and fosters a collaborative environment for impactful research and learning. Through team-guided projects, mentorship, and industry-relevant workshops, the Council empowers students to gain practical knowledge and contribute meaningfully to their fields.

Mission

Our mission is to bridge the gap between students and the OSR by providing essential support to the office and enabling students to advocate for growth and access to opportunities both on and off campus. We aim to create a collaborative environment that fosters impactful research and enhances the learning experience for students at CSUSB.

Eligibility

  • Must be a CSUSB undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Must have at least one year of enrollment remaining at CSUSB.
  • Must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Must have relevant experience or demonstrate exemplary performance in related areas.
  • Must have held a leadership position in another organization.

Roles on the Council

Chairperson

  • Maintain records of Council events and workshops.
  • Communicate regularly with the OSR Program Manager and Director.
  • Plan and coordinate Council meetings, including preparing agendas, reserving rooms, and overseeing minutes.
  • Ensure projects are properly assigned and tasks are on schedule.
  • Provide guidance and support to other Chairs and members.
  • Collaborate with the Program and Management Chair to oversee workshops and ensure smooth operations of OSR activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the OSR and the Council.
  • Attend OSR department meetings.
  • Lead recruitment and training of Council members.

Finance Chair

  • Provide support to the Program Manager in planning and budget facilitation within the OSR, including program budget allocations, budget projections, budget reporting, etc.
  • Assist the OSR Director with identifying and securing sponsorship opportunities for the OSR’s significant events.
  • Assist the OSR director with research and preparation of grant opportunities that support the department's growth.
  • Recruitment and training of members.

Graphic Design and Editorial Chair

  • Create all marketing materials for the OSR programs, events, and services while adhering to the required brand requirements and standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications to produce videos promoting CSUSB student research and the OSR.
  • Manage the OSR blog by producing regular content tailored toward students and the campus community. 
  • Prepare and provide support for the OSR’s bi-annual newsletter. 
  • Recruitment and training of members.

Program and Management Chair

  • Assist the OSR in the planning and facilitating its programs and events. 
  • Provide support with identifying and nurturing strategic partnerships with campus departments, organizations, and external organizations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all external communications, excluding those managed by the Program Manager and Director.
  • Implement and ensure the execution of board decisions.
  • Collaborating with the Chairperson, create project tasks and timelines, ensuring that all members meet activity deadlines, and ensuring efficiency and productivity within the group.
  • Recruitment and training of members.

Coyote Research Ambassador Chair

  • Represent the OSR at research, recruiting, and outreach events.
  • Give presentations to student organizations and classes.
  • Facilitate department workshops, as requested.
  • Provide peer mentorship to students interested in research or creative activities.
  • Assist with outreach activities both on and off campus. 
  • Collaborate with the social media intern to maintain a social media presence, including creating posts and growing followers.
  • Collaborate with the social media interns to create publicity for key annual events.
  • Organize and conduct podcasts to engage the community.
  • Recruitment and training of members.

Expectations

  • Maintain active participation by attending scheduled meetings with the Council and OSR staff.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Council members, OSR staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Chairpersons must maintain regular communication with the Council and the OSR.
