Reaching New Heights Foundation Inc.
Reaching New Heights Foundation (RNHF) provides an array of services that assist Veterans transitioning from active duty, incarceration, or homelessness. Services are provided through collaboration with local and government agencies to build pride and stability. Our Mentor Program generates a roadmap for success through interaction and accountability. Veterans Awareness Resources (VAR) provides Veterans assistance in applying for VA disability compensation, healthcare, burial benefits, obtaining medical records and many other VA benefits. Our association with the County Veterans Service offices in Riverside and San Bernardino provides many of the services connecting Veterans to benefits that they have earned. RNHF has several memorandums of understanding, letters of support from Riverside and San Bernardino County Veteran Service Departments.

VA Rural Scholars Fellowship Information Sheet
Rural Scholars Fellowship (RSF)
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Office of Rural Health (ORH) created the Rural Scholars Fellowship (RSF) program to develop a cadre of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) clinicians with the skills, knowledge, and professional networks necessary to become leaders and innovators in rural health care delivery systems. The program also promotes recruitment and retention of providers in rural VHA primary care practice areas.

VA Quality Scholars
The VA Quality Scholars Fellowship consists of nine active sites across the United States, as well as an affiliate site in Toronto, Canada. Each site in the US consists of a partnership between a VA hospital and an academic institution. It has an interprofessional emphasis with physicians, doctoral-trained nurses, clinical psychologists and pharmacists as fellows and faculty. Fellows use their 2 years to focus on healthcare improvement research and scholarship, operations leadership, and teaching quality and safety.

NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (EGFP)
The NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (EGFP) provides an opportunity for applicants who received the distinction of GRFP Honorable Mention no more than three years before the proposal due date to be named NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellows and obtain financial support for their graduate education at an institution in an EPSCoR jurisdiction.

VA Scholarship Programs (HPSP)
The Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP) provides financial assistance to students receiving education or training in a direct or indirect health-care services discipline (Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 occupations); and assists in providing an adequate supply of such personnel for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). HPSP helps the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) meet its need for qualified health care professionals for which recruitment or retention is difficult.

The Army Women’s Foundation (AWF) recognizes the importance of education and the role it plays in personal, professional, and economic fulfillment. The Army Women’s Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program provides grants to women soldiers, past and present, and their lineal descendants to help them attain their educational goals. The AWF Legacy Scholarship Program offers financial support in four areas: Certificate Programs, Community College coursework, Undergraduate Degrees, and Graduate Degrees. Scholarships are awarded only for coursework from accredited institutions. Scholarships are based on merit, academic potential, personal essay, community service, letters of recommendation, and financial need.
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. According to the U. S. Department of Commerce, STEM occupations are growing at 17%, while other occupations are growing at 9.8%. Scholarships outside of CSUSB
Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG)
The GSTG program helps students currently enrolled in an approved preparation program and working toward their preliminary credential to become a teacher, school social worker, counselor or attendance official. Students may win awards of up to $20,000, and grant winners are obligated to work at an eligible school for four years. Learn more about the Golden State Teacher Grant Program.
Cherry Hawk Scholarship
This scholarship helps students in Southern California who have survived cancer and plan to pursue a sports-related career such as sports information, sports medicine — including physical therapy or sports psychology — sports management, sports marketing and sports journalism or communications. It's named after Taylor “The Hawk” Richardson, Gene “Cherry” Ward and all the “Fallen Hawks” who enjoyed the sporting life. This is part of a group of scholarships under the Cancer for College umbrella. This scholarship from the California Fire Foundation supports the children of firefighters who died in the line of duty. The scholarship covers certificate programs and degrees, including those from two- and four-year institutions. It's named after California Professional Firefighters President-Emeritus Daniel A. Students who are graduating high school seniors or older can apply for this scholarship that has no GPA, specific career or income requirements. Both need-based and merit-based scholarships are awarded and can be used for students attending vocational and trade school, community college, state universities, some schools outside California and Nevada and some public and private schools. Executive Women International (EWI) Scholarship Programs
High school students enrolled in a school located within the boundaries of participating EWI chapters (Pomona Valley and San Diego in California) can apply for this group of scholarships. The annual scholarship can be used to pursue an associate, bachelor's or master's degree. Scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, good citizenship and extracurricular activities will be considered. The Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship focuses on transitional students, including those with physical or economic need, those well-beyond high school who are entering postsecondary education or the workforce for the first time, those seeking reskilling, or non-traditional students already enrolled in trade school, college or university. House Scholarship Foundation Aspiring Scholars Award
Students who are community leaders in the arts and sciences can apply for this scholarship, created by a nonprofit organization in Southern California to provide need- and merit-based scholarships to disadvantaged students. The group currently has chapters in Southern California but plans to expand. The award can be used to cover tuition for degrees and certificates from two-year schools. Italian Catholic Federation First Year Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who are Roman Catholic and of Italian decent or are the children or grandchildren of a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. Loreen K. Odemu Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Any high school senior, undergraduate or trade school student who wants to pursue a career in nursing is eligible to apply for this scholarship, which is named after Loreen Odemu, a registered nurse. Learn more about the Loreen K. Odemu Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
The National Council of Jewish Women of Los Angeles (NCJWLA) offers a series of scholarships for women who want to attend vocational school, community college or university. NCJWLA selects female students based on academic merit and financial need. Some of the scholarships support single mothers or women facing hardships. Learn more about the NCJWLA Scholarships.
TheDream.US Scholarship Program
Offered in 24 states, this scholarship supports low-income, undocumented students who are eligible for in-state tuition at specific schools. The scholarship team partners with more than 80 institutions that have a good track record of helping first-generation students. RTS’s Career Readiness Program is holistic, addressing many of the unique challenges college-going foster youth face by supporting their mental health, communication coaching, internship placement, and basic financial needs so they can graduate college, launch successful careers, and unlock their full potential. 85% of RTS Scholars graduate college and find career-track jobs within 6 months.
We do this by providing:
Career Development and Navigation: Tailored 1:1 coaching to help Scholars achieve their professional, personal, and academic goals.
Job and Internship Opportunities: Scholars gain invaluable real-world experience and build up their resume.
Community of Peers: Connect with fellow RTS Scholars and alumni.
Mental Health Resources: Support for mental health and well-being.
Scholarship: RTS Scholars receive a monthly scholarship for program participation. Current RTS Scholars receive $5,000 per year in our program (2025-26 Scholarship: TBD).
Eligibility:
The program is designed to be a 3-year program, where we ideally begin to work with students after their first year of undergraduate studies until graduation.
