The Student Veterans Organization (SVO) is a community run by veterans for veterans.

The SVO’s purpose is to assist veterans, dependents of veterans, active duty personnel, and veteran supporters in their academic, social, and career success. They provide an atmosphere for veterans and the veteran affiliates listed above to engage in social connections and networking opportunities.

Overview

The Student Veteran Organization (SVO) had an exceptional year filled with events, community service, and significant achievements. This recap highlights the key activities, initiatives, and accomplishments of the SVO during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Key Activities and Events

Inland Empire 66ers Baseball Game (August 2023)

The SVO attended a baseball game at the Inland Empire 66ers. Members enjoyed a catered dinner and were featured on the jumbotron during the game, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

Back to School Bowling Party

To kick off the academic year, the SVO hosted a back-to-school bowling party at the campus bowling alley. This event provided a fun and relaxed environment for members to reconnect and welcome new student veterans.

Holiday Turkey Dinner Giveaway (November 2023)

SVO members volunteered at the Holiday Turkey Dinner Giveaway for veterans, an event hosted by the local Disabled American Veterans (DAV) chapter. This community service project helped provide holiday meals to veteran families in need.

Student Veterans of America National Conference (January 2024)

Four SVO members had the opportunity to attend the Student Veterans of America National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. This conference offered valuable networking opportunities and insights into veteran advocacy and support.

Masters of the Air Screening

The SVO partnered with Apple TV+ to host a screening of "Masters of the Air" on the CSUSB campus. This event was well-attended and provided an engaging way to explore historical content related to military service.

Children's Carnival Event (April 2024)

In celebration of the Month of the Military Child, the SVO hosted a children's carnival event in April. This event was aimed at giving back to military families and featured games, prizes, and entertainment for children of all ages.

Annual Office of Student Leadership and Engagement Awards

The SVO was honored with three prestigious awards at the Annual Office of Student Leadership and Engagement Awards Ceremony:

Club Leader of the Year: Ralph Figueroa
