Students may use their place of employment if it’s related to children and families; however, the externship hours must be focused on something outside of your typical duties (i.e., you should be gaining additional experiences and skills). Therefore, if you are using your worksite, you must make sure your externship hours are spent doing something outside of your regular work requirements. 150 hours are required for the externship: 110 work hours, 20 hours working on activity/project, and 20 flex hours (devoted to either externship or activity).
