"Property Custodian" facilitated by John Salazar & Brandon Hernandez: Streamline the asset management process by utilizing Property Custodian! This session includes an overview and demonstration of the platform.

Work and life can be challenging even under the best of circumstances, but given the events of the past year, we could all use a little support! Participants in this session will learn, and practice, research-based mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies for coping with stress, building resilience and supporting wellbeing. "Cash Handling Location Application & CashNet Department Deposit (Micro-Session)" facilitated by Mimi Badulis & Claudia Enriquez" Arm yourself with the knowledge to keep your department in compliance with Cash Handling. In this session, learn about CashNet’s Departmental Deposit function as well as key information to help your department set up and maintain a Cash Handling location. CashNet’s Departmental Deposit function eliminates the need to maintain a separate log or Excel file for your deposit, as well as the need to include an itemized worksheet with your departmental cash transmittal. "Cherwell Accounting Forms (Micro-Session)" facilitated by Eliana Nguyen: Make the completion of accounting forms a breeze for you and your department by utilizing a self-service portal to submit your requests! In this session, discover how the new Accounting Forms Submission system utilizes Cherwell to improve your form submission experience. This session will include a live demo of the platform and overview of the process.

A program developed by CSUSB alumnus and fellow Coyote, Diego Irigoyen, Creative Brain Training aides in improving your creative thinking, performance skills and mental health by focusing on three practices: conscious breathing, ambidextrous development, and art making. These three elements assist in creating a balanced, chemical wellbeing where each practice is based on concepts in neuroplasticity and helps to improve and maintain your mental health. Attend this session to learn how to integrate these elements and reap their benefits in your professional and personal life.

An introduction to CSUSB's brand, We Define the Future. Learn how we landed on We Define the Future, what makes up CSUSB's brand and how you contribute to it on a daily basis. Learn what branding resources are available to you, how to apply them to your daily work, and how to request help when needed. Upon completion of this workshop, attendees will: Recognize the research that went into CSUSB's brand development; Recall key elements that make up We Define the Future; Identify how they contribute to our brand; Locate branding resources available to them; and Determine when they need to reach out for additional support.

Attend this session to learn about the new corporate card and the changes that may impact you as a cardholder. "CSUBuy": Come join us to preview the future of our Procurement workflow for requisitioning and purchase orders. Introducing, CSUBuy (Jaggaer) integration into CFS with powerful functionalities to facilitate purchasing, invoice and vendor management resulting in a streamlined purchasing process, invoice and vendor management and payment lifecycles.

The creation of a single version of the truth and managing the quality of its data is a problem for almost every enterprise. Thus, sound enterprise practices in the management and governance of master data directly contribute to the success of the organization. Mismanagement of these practices and lack of master data governance pose the highest risk. In this session, attendees will understand the purpose and needs of Enterprise Data Management, learn how to classify enterprise data, and practice how to safeguard data.

Attend this workshop and walk through the steps of developing a meaningful and manageable assessment plan for continuous improvement from start to finish. This session will also include an overview of the assessment process with a focus on the steps to take to articulate desired outcomes and corresponding measures. It is said that “hindsight is 20/20”, but how do you understand the past to make informed decisions about the future? This session will examine The Blameless Retrospective, a process that aims at capturing lessons from the past to apply to the future. A must-attend workshop for those who want to identify the many benefits of adopting a Blameless Retrospective view, learn how to apply its basic framework, as well as measure the success of the new process through repetition.

The increase of virtual meetings overlaps employment and recruitment. Organizations are using cloud-based platforms to conduct job interviews. Join in the conversation to learn simple techniques to enhance your professional presence during a virtual job interview. We will discuss strategies in preparing before the interview, delivering structured responses to questions, and the appropriate way to follow up. Whether or not you are interviewing for a job, it is better to be familiar with these techniques before your next virtual interview.

On a daily basis managers are challenged to motivate and lead their workgroups. The key to managing successfully is building trusting and respectful relationships with employees. Content includes recognizing the challenges of leading people, using planning/motivation to maintain control, identifying how to approach a variety of performance issues, exploring what motivates employees.

The success of an organization is due in large part to the diversity of skills, talents and backgrounds of the people who come together to create a work group. This also means, of course, working with people who have different attitudes, habits and personalities which may be difficult to manage. Improve your interpersonal relationships and attend this session to examine your mindset and attitude, understand common personality types, identify strategies for dealing with varying personalities.

The act of assuming about gender (even if correct) sends a potentially harmful message -- that people must look a certain way to demonstrate the gender that they are or are not. Using someone’s correct personal pronouns is a way to respect them and create an inclusive environment, just as using a person’s name can be a way to respect them. Let's talk about pronouns and how we can be more inclusive and dispel the notion that intersex, transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people do not or should not exist.

 This past year, many CSUSB colleagues have had to improvise their “home offices” resulting in challenging setups. An improper workstation setup at home can cause awkward posture which can increase the risk for ergonomic-related injuries. In this session, learn how to set-up your remote workstation to prevent ergonomic-related injuries through the following topics: identify adjustments to your workstation to improve ergonomics, recognize when to make ergonomic adjustments, discover common household items to assist in aligning your remote workstation, learn helpful tips to improve remote ergonomics and overall wellness through the use of micro-breaks.

Join the University Budget Director as she walks you through the steps involved in building the campus Operating Fund budget (aka: SB001). Attendees will learn how CSUSB’s funding moves from the Governor’s office or student account, to campus departments. Whether you work directly with the budget, or are just curious about the process, we are sure you will learn something new!

Do you want to create a podcast, but are unsure what to do or what to even talk about? No worries! With podcasts increasing in popularity, now is the perfect time to get started. Join us as we share our lessons learned with creating and maintaining the CSUSB Advising podcast, developing content, equipment to use, editing and everything in-between! Whether for professional or personal use, this session is for you! 1) Participants will learn how to create and maintain a podcast. 2) Participants will be able to identify podcast platforms that are commonly used. 3) Participants will learn strategies on developing content that is engaging and meaningful.

Learn how to create and maintain a healthier work-from-home lifestyle and be ready to return to campus with less stress and more resiliency. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to enhance your remote work experience and reduce stress when returning to campus by: Identifying and assessing a range of unhealthy behaviors and habits related to working remotely, examining opportunities and strategies to adopt and improve your health and wellbeing, successfully implementing and maintaining healthy behaviors to improve your health and wellbeing.

Dr. Rebecca Covarrubias, Associate Professor of Psychology at UC Santa Cruz will share her research on how institutional values of independence ignore the familial commitments of low-income, first-gen students of color and consequently undermine their well-being and performance, especially during the transition to college. By the end of this session, CSUSB employees will be able to identify two ways to increase the visibility of their intersectional identities to help increase students sense of belonging, explain how first-generation student experiences differ from continuing generation students, and determine which practices, policies and programs can be adopted at CSUSB to better support first-generation students.

In this session, Paz will lead a dialogue of the challenges women of color face in navigating the professional and political landscape of leadership in higher education, followed by storytelling of the educational and professional trajectories to provide participants with proven strategies to achieve success. In this interactive dialogue, participants will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and develop strategies and next steps for pursuing executive leadership positions.

ADKAR is an acronym that represents five tangible and concrete outcomes that people need to achieve lasting change. Participate in this session to learn more about the principles and practices of successful change management methodologies and the CSU Change Management Community of Practice.

In this engaging and interactive session, you will be introduced to the F!SH philosophy, modeled after the famous fish market in Seattle. FISH! empowers employees to be more effective in any job. When a team lives the Fish! philosophy, they improve their work environment and create better results. Participants will gain a practical approach that can immediately be applied to their work and personal lives.

Breakout session featured at Employee Development Days (EDD) 2020. With so much change around us, this workshop comes at the optimal time to rediscover how to manage stress when balancing work and home. During the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to examine, identify, articulate, and assess individual stressors in their workplace as well as in their personal lives. Participants will learn methods to incorporate in an effort to reduce and/or manage stress and develop useful strategies toward creating harmonious environments. Additionally, this workshop will address perceptions and ways to develop and maintain healthy boundaries.

How do you ensure a positive hiring experience for international faculty & staff? Do you know what your role is from both the employee’s and employer’s (CSUSB) perspective? In this eye-opening workshop, Kimberly equips participants with the tools and knowledge needed to internationally hire with confidence. Providing a basic understanding of work authorizations, employment-based visas and visa sponsorship, learn how to be in a better position to support your department.

Breakout session featured at Employee Development Days (EDD) 2020. As higher education professionals, embracing the diversity of our students is important. This interactive workshop is filled with student testimonies and vignettes to help illustrate the strategies you can use to help support undocumented students and their families. Olivia provides workshop participants with a brief overview of immigration policies at the state and federal level. Furthermore, participants will learn ways in which they can take the lead in collaborating with the Undocumented Student Resource Centers on college campuses and in the region.

Learn from our resident expert on best practices you can focus on and utilize when seeking employment opportunities. Jim will focus on three main areas, 1) Your personal brand, 2) A resume that will capture a recruiter’s attention, and 3) Effective interviewing techniques. After attending this session, participants will feel more empowered to own their career trajectory and gain perspectives on what employers look for when reviewing resumes and evaluating candidates throughout the interview process.

Breakout session featured at Employee Development Days (EDD) 2020. When it comes to successful project management, the secret is all in how well the work is organized. In this session, join Chris as he introduces participants to Kanban, a visual system for managing and moving work through a process. A Japanese term for signboard or visual signal, Kanban was first developed at Toyota as a lean manufacturing methodology and has since been adopted into many other work management systems. Gain the tools you need to excel in your task management approach and trailblaze through your next project.
