Applying for admission is a two-step process:
Step One: University Application
Step Two: School of Criminology and Criminal Justice Application
All information and forms must be received by the Office of Graduate Admissions and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice by appropriate deadlines by appropriate deadlines to be guaranteed consideration for current academic year admission. It is your responsibility to ensure all information is received. All applicants whose files are complete by the appropriate dates will be reviewed and considered for admission.
Step One: University Application
Information on applying can be found here.
All students, including graduating seniors from CSUSB, who plan to enroll as graduate students for the first time, must submit a formal university graduate application through CSU Apply and pay a nonrefundable application fee.
Former graduate students of the university must apply for readmission if: (a) they have been absent for more than one quarter (excluding summer sessions) immediately preceding the quarter for which readmission is sought, or (b) they have attended other colleges during their absences from California State University, San Bernardino. Students who are reapplying must again pay the $55 application fee.
Students who completed their undergraduate coursework at a university other than CSUSB, or who have attended other colleges during their absences from CSUSB, must submit official transcripts to the Office of Graduate Admissions for each institution attended. Please allow at least one month prior to the deadline for your transcripts to be sent to the University.
The department strongly suggests that students apply to the university at least a month in advance of our deadline to allow sufficient time for the university to process your information and paperwork.
If you are an unclassified graduate student or currently enrolled in another graduate program at CSUSB, you must file a change of program form with the Graduate Admissions office in lieu of the university application.
If you will be applying to more than one graduate program on campus, please contact the Graduate Admissions office at (909) 537-5030 to submit additional PART B sections of the university application.
Step Two: School of Criminology and Criminal Justice Application
In addition to the university application, students must also submit the following documents:
- A Statement of Purpose
- This statement should include information describing the applicant’s preparation for graduate study and professional goals.
- Three Letters of Recommendation from current/former professors or others who have direct knowledge of the applicant's ability to succeed in an advanced educational setting.
This package of application materials should be uploaded to CSUApply.
