B.S. in Intelligence and Crime Analysis

Bulletin of Courses

The B.S. in Intelligence and Crime Analysis program is an interdisciplinary degree option that offers extensive training in research and analytics used in the field of crime and intelligence analysis. To accomplish this objective, this professional degree program interweaves curriculum from three departments—Criminal Justice, Geography and Environmental Studies, and Information and Decision Sciences.

The program offers students three concentrations. (Option 1) Students may opt to complete a technical proficiency in Geographic Information Sciences with mapping courses offered through the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies. (Option 2) Students may choose to do a technical proficiency in Cyber Security by taking a set of courses offered through the Department of Information and Decision Sciences. (Option 3) Students may choose to do a concentration in Homeland Security, selecting courses from the Criminal Justice and Political Science programs.

Core Criminal Justice courses provide a foundation in network analysis, opportunity and situationally based crime prevention techniques, and problem-oriented approaches to controlling crime.

Courses are offered primarily in lab or classroom environments. Instruction involves practical hands-on activities to develop professional skills and build résumés. Students are required to complete at least one internship or independent study.
