Director, Project Impact: Male Minority Teacher Pipeline Program
Project Impact Director and K-12 educator, Marcus Reynolds, will speak on the need for the Project Impact program to combat the lack of teacher diversity being a major obstacle school districts encounter. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, minority male teachers only make up 5% nationally. Additionally, research indicates a positive correlation between teachers of color and an increase among students of color in standardized test scores in reading and math, graduation rates, and interest in attending college. Studies also indicate that teacher of color connect in ways that increase the academic performance of students of color overall.
