Educational College of Education Leader

Dr. BECKY SUMBERA is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Single Subject Credential Program in the Department of Teacher Education and Foundations. Dr. Sumbera assumed  leadership of this program in fall 2019.  Dr. Sumbera is an experienced K-12 administrator, teacher-practitioner, and transformational leader. Since arriving at CSUSB three years ago, Dr. Sumbera has made significant contributions toward strengthening Watson College of Education programs through developing cultures and program structures that facilitate networking, collaboration, learning, inclusion, and individual support. 

Outside of the university, Dr. Sumbera currently serves as the President of the California Association of Professors of Educational Administration (CAPEA). As CAPEA’s president, Dr. Sumbera leads California professors of Educational Leadership and Administrative Services programs on the discourse necessary for blending theory into practice, developing professional capital for students, and building sustainable growth throughout K-16 educational institutions. Additionally, Dr. Sumbera’s leadership and research interest foster active legislation to effectively respond to educational inequities.  The Watson College of Education is grateful for Dr. Sumbera’s leadership contributions.
