Paving the Way for Diversity in Education
In its fifth year, Project Impact stands as a testament to our commitment to enriching the K-12 educational landscape with diverse perspectives. This pioneering initiative actively recruits men of color to take up the mantle of teaching, addressing the critical need for more male teachers of color in classrooms.
Through strategic partnerships with school districts, Project Impact is steadily overturning statistics - where currently, only one percent of male teachers in California are African American, and a mere six percent are Latino American. Our goal is to encourage and support male classified staff and substitute teachers to pursue their teaching credentials, offering bi-weekly check-in sessions to guide them through the process.
A shining example of this initiative's success is our collaboration with the Rialto Unified School District (RUSD), where a Grow-Your-Own Tuition-free program has been developed specifically for minority male classified employees. This outreach is set to expand into the Spring and Fall of 2024.
Further amplifying their voices, Project Impact students have shared their inspiring journeys at prestigious conferences, including this year's Growing Inland Achievement (GIA): Toward a Shared Vision Summit, various Meet & Greets, and the CSUSB Educational Leadership Summit.
