BASW
- Students are required to complete the Child Welfare elective course.
- BASW students complete their practicum placement on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the second year of their academic program in a county Public Child Welfare agency.
- Students who are current Public Child Welfare employees will complete their practicum placement with agency of their employment. Days of practicum are Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs depending on agency of employment.
Advanced Standing
- Students are required to complete additional summer seminars.
- Advanced standing students complete 1 year of practicum placement in a county Public Child Welfare agency.
- Students who are current Public Child Welfare employees will complete their practicum placement with agency of their employment.
2-Year MSW
- Students are required to complete the Child Welfare elective course.
- MSW students receiving a stiped must complete their research project on a topic relevant to Public Child Welfare.
- MSW students are in practicum Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs.
- The Generalist (1st year) of practicum placement is completed in agencies that service Title IV-E clients, or those at risk of being Title IV-E eligible.
- The Advanced Generalist (2nd year) of practicum placement is completed in a county Public Child Welfare agency.
3-Year MSW
- Students are required to complete the Child Welfare elective course.
- MSW students receiving a stiped must complete their research project on a topic relevant to Public Child Welfare.
- Students are in practicum Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs.
- For both on campus and online students practicum placement begins the second year of their academic program.
- The Generalist (2nd year) of practicum placement is typically completed in an agency that serves Title IV-E clients, or those at risk of being Title IV-E eligible.
- The Advanced Generalist (3rd year) of practicum placement is completed with student’s agency of employment.
