Power to the San Bernardino campus has been restored as of 9:55 a.m. Normal campus operations will resume Friday, July 26th. Essential staff with questions on whether to report should contact their appropriate administrator. Facilities Management will be working to check all building systems including HVAC, elevators and fire alarms. If power has not been restored in your work area when you return, please report that to Facilities Planning and Management at (909) 537-5175. The Palm Desert Campus remains open and operational.

Classes / Practicum Placements

BASW

  • Students are required to complete the Child Welfare elective course.
  • BASW students complete their practicum placement on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the second year of their academic program in a county Public Child Welfare agency.  
    • Students who are current Public Child Welfare employees will complete their practicum placement with agency of their employment.  Days of practicum are Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs depending on agency of employment.

Advanced Standing

  • Students are required to complete additional summer seminars.
  • Advanced standing students complete 1 year of practicum placement in a county Public Child Welfare agency.
    • Students who are current Public Child Welfare employees will complete their practicum placement with agency of their employment.

2-Year MSW

  • Students are required to complete the Child Welfare elective course.
  • MSW students receiving a stiped must complete their research project on a topic relevant to Public Child Welfare.
  • MSW students are in practicum Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs. 
    • The Generalist (1st year) of practicum placement is completed in agencies that service Title IV-E clients, or those at risk of being Title IV-E eligible.
    • The Advanced Generalist (2nd year) of practicum placement is completed in a county Public Child Welfare agency.

3-Year MSW

  • Students are required to complete the Child Welfare elective course.
  • MSW students receiving a stiped must complete their research project on a topic relevant to Public Child Welfare.
  • Students are in practicum Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs.
    • For both on campus and online students practicum placement begins the second year of their academic program.
  • The Generalist (2nd year) of practicum placement is typically completed in an agency that serves Title IV-E clients, or those at risk of being Title IV-E eligible.
  • The Advanced Generalist (3rd year) of practicum placement is completed with student’s agency of employment.
