Insurance Administration
The State of California has elected to be self-insured for its general liability, vehicle liability, workers’ compensation, and property exposures. As a State agency, the California State University, Office of the Chancellor, the Trustees, and its system of campuses are included in this self-insured program.
At California State University, San Bernardino the Office of Risk Management administers the general liability, property, and workers' compensation programs. We also secure supplemental policies and review insurance and indemnity language in contracts through the Need Help? Service Request button on our webpage.
The State Office of Risk and Insurance Management administers the motor vehicle liability program. Within the Department of General Services, coverage is provided for all state agencies including third-party liability coverage for California State University, San Bernardino's vehicles. Only select vehicles have comprehensive coverage, so Departments are encouraged to obtain additional coverage for high-value vehicles through the campus Office of Risk Management. Employees and volunteers driving for state business should familiarize themselves with Travel Requirements to understand insurance coverage and other responsibilities prior to travel.
