Cal State San Bernardino is one of 471 colleges and universities in the nation recognized for outstanding efforts to increase nonpartisan student voter participation in the 2024 election.
CSUSB’s Department of Nursing was one of three programs in the nation honored with the 2024 Benchworks Assessment and Impact Award in Nursing Education. The award is given annually to nursing programs that demonstrate excellence in student learning outcomes and program effectiveness, recognizing institutions that use data-driven insights to continually improve nursing education and elevate student success.
Sam Buenrostro, superintendent of the Corona-Norco Unified School District, was honored by the University of La Verne’s LaFetra College of Education as one of three of its inaugural Distinguished Education Doctoral Alumni. Buenrostro earned a doctorate in education from LaFetra in 2012.
The AEP Award is earned by organizations that demonstrate a commitment to procurement excellence and embrace innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership and e-procurement.

Ahlam Muhtaseb, professor of media studies, is the recipient of this prestigious National Communication Association award. According to Amy Aldridge Sanford, a member of the awards committee, “We consider the Scholarly Influence Award one for career achievement. It's awarded to the very best of senior communication scholars who've dedicated their research, teaching and service to social justice and activism.”
Patrick Marshall, CSUSB MBA alumnus, was the recipient of the prestigious Equity and Social Justice: Change Agent Award at the 2024 National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education.

The Women’s Support Organization will honor Ahlam Muhtaseb (communication studies) with the 2024 Distinguished Woman of the Year award from Women Support Organization (WSO) on Saturday, March 2, when the organization celebrates International Women’s Day. In addition, her latest film, “36 Seconds: Portrait of a Hate Crime,” has been screen and honored at several international film festivals.
