Finding an Internship

Local Internships

You are encouraged to find an internship with an institution that matches your personal interests, and to act professionally in your assignment. Remember, you are not just gaining valuable real-world experience through your internship – you are also building your professional network, which you may be able to turn to when looking for later employment.

Many students choose to pursue their internship within the Inland Empire. Some institutions list internship opportunities on their website, but many make internships available only when a position is requested. The Certificate Program maintains a list of area museums for your reference – if you see an institution that matches your interests, don’t be afraid to call and ask if an internship can be arranged. The Museum Director, Prof. Arianna Huhn,  can also help you to make contact, and to set up the required paperwork for you to receive academic credit for your internship.

Local organizations that are actively looking for interns sometimes contact the Museum Studies Certificate Program to help spread the word! Opportunities are listed in the CSUSB Museum Studies E-Newsletter

If you are interning at a local museum, you can apply for a stipend of up to $1000 per quarter through the CSUSB Career Center. Apply early, as funds are limited and allocated on a first-come first-served basis
