At CSUSB making art in 2D or 3D mediums can be undertaken separately or together. Many students specialize in pictorial arts such as paintings, drawing, photography or printingmaking, and many in sculpture, ceramics, or glass-making. However, all of our teaching encourages experimentation, and this often involves blurring the boundaries of 2D and 3D works, and mixing media in surprising ways and marrying older more traditional tool and techniques with digital electronic fabrication tools.
The foundation level classes especially deploy this inter-disciplinary approach, seeing student problem-slove, explore techniques, and develop skills in composition, line, colour, texture, format, and function, all to understand what content can be created by different forms of art and design.
