Priscilla Gutierrez, Chair


Class of 2014

Priscilla currently works for Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health's Cultural Competency Program. As a member of the team, she helps identify and support the needs of various underserved communities of Riverside County to increase access to culturally sensitive mental health services and reduce the associated stigma. Priscilla has nearly 10 years of professional experience in the non-profit, healthcare, education, and customer service fields. She graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Her goals include furthering her education through a local Master's program and to help develop policies that will benefit underrepresented populations.

Sendy Sanchez, MPH, Vice Chair


Class of 2011

Sendy Sanchez is the Senior Director of Policy and Government Affairs for a Consortium of Community Health Centers and Clinics in the San Bernardino and Riverside County. Ms. Sanchez has actively worked in the Public Health field for over 9 years and her expertise lies in health policy, access to care and health care coverage at the local, state and federal level. Through her work, she aims to strengthen health equity and access for the most vulnerable in the region. In 2019, Sendy was one of 12 individuals from across the United States awarded the "emerging Leader Award" by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the Geiger Gibson Program in the Community Health Policy and the George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health. Ms. Sanchez has also been recognized as one of the Inland Empire's "Top 30 Under 30" by former Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter (2011) and Assemblywoman Eloise Gomez Reyes (2017). Sendy earned a Master's Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in Health Policy from Loma Linda University in 2013 and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish from California State University, San Bernardino.

Mike Razo, Gift Fund Coordinator


Class of 1999

Henry "Michael' Razo was born and raised in Colton, California. He attended schools in the Colton Joint Unified School District and is a graduate of Colton High School. Upon graduation, while simultaneously maintaining a demanding work schedule with State Bros Markets, he immediately enrolled in San Bernardino Valley College with aspirations of transferring to Cal Poly Pomona with hopes of becoming an electrical engineer. However, the economic downturns of the early 90’s shifted educational and career aspirations for Michael and this new direction would ultimately lead him to the foundation for who he is today. He went on to earn an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC), a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) and a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands. His career in business is broad and varied as it includes tax auditing for the California State Board of Equalization and Employment Development Department and over 16 years of experience in school business for the Business Services Division of the San Bernardino City Unified School District where he has progressively advanced from Budget Analyst, Accountant, Business Manager and to the current management position which he now holds as Budget Officer. Michael has long held a firm belief in giving back to the community which has served him and helped him to succeed. Since his early days as a student, he has recognized the importance of holding leadership positions in student organizations beginning with the SBVC Business Club, CSUSB Latino Business Students Association, CSUSB Accounting Association and Latino Scholastic Corporation (LSAC). As a graduate, he has also been affiliated with other organizations including the CSUSB Latino Alumni Chapter (LAC), CSUSB Association of Latino Faculty, Staff and Students (ALFSS) and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). He is also a co-founder of a number of different for profit and non-profit corporations that have serve the inland Empire. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Colton Utilities Commission for which he has served since 2011 and is also the Treasurer for Col-Knights (Knights of Columbus, Colton Council 4017) since 2013. When time permits, Michael remains engaged in education and his community as a mentor to the student organizations he was involved with as a student. Recreationally, he is an avid music aficionado and enjoys hiking, traveling, golf, home brewing and spending time with his family and friends.

Felix Zuniga, Immediate Past Chair


Class of 2001, 2006

Felix Zuniga’s heart is invested in the Inland Empire, especially with students in the community and at CSU San Bernardino. In the time Felix has resided in the IE, he has participated in the support and development of students in his community. Most notably he has provided leadership to several organizations geared towards student leadership and development. Felix is currently the chair of the CSUSB Latino Alumni Chapter, Past president of the CSUSB Association of Latino Faculty Staff and Students, He serves on the Board of the University Diversity Committee, creator of the YotieTalks committee, and serves as a Diversity Trainer. Felix is the advisor for the Latino Business Students Association, Latinos on the Fast Track, and the IEFL Club at CSUSB. Externally, he serves on the boards of the Inland Empire Future Leaders, Kiwanis of Greater San Bernardino and is a mentor for the San Bernardino Valley College Puente Mentor Program. Felix is responsible for the creation of the Madrina/Padrino Mentorship program and one of the co-creators of the Black and Brown Young Men’s conference, going on its 4th year. Also served on the founding boards for the Latino Book and Family Festival and CSUSB Symposium on Race.

Deborah Grijalva, Board Member


Class of 2007, 2015, 2020

Deborah D. Grijalva is a recent Doctor of Educational Leadership graduate. Her research seeks to understand first-generation Latina student awareness of graduate school opportunities at Hispanic Serving Institutions. Her dissertation entitled, "Graduate School Awareness for First-generation Latinas: Cracking the Glass Ceiling - A Validation Study" sought to understand Latinas' enrollment gap in graduate school. Dr. Grijalva is a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor's in English, a Master's in Public Administration, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Deborah holds over fifteen years of work experience in higher education from teaching, marketing and recruitment, and administration. Currently, Dr. Grijalva is the Interim Director for the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) at the University of Redlands. In this position, she is responsible for operations, hiring, training, and managing adjunct faculty, marketing, and recruitment for degree preparation programs, certificate programs, and other continuing education opportunities within SCS. As a three-time alum from CSUSB, Dr. Grijalva serves on the Latino Association Board and was recently appointed as Program Fellow to the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at CSUSB. As a student, she served as the Chair of the ASI Graduate Student Advisory Committee and as the Graduate Studies Strategic Planning Committee graduate student representative. Deborah recently served on the Council on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (CODIE) Committee at CSUSB as the graduate student representative and was one of two Graduate Student Representatives on the Academic Appeal Panel. During her time at CSUSB, she served as a Public Administration Advisory Board member co-founder of the MBA Alumni Advisory Board. During her short time at the University of Redlands, she has chaired the 2021 and 2022 Summer Term Scholarship Committee and the Racial Justice - Black Justice Certificate Proposal Committee. Due to her successes, she has been promoted three times in less than three years at the University of Redlands. In addition, Dr. Grijalva teacher for the School of Continuing Studies and College of Arts and Sciences. Along with her husband, daughter, and two dogs, Dr. Deborah D. Grijalva resides in the City of Redlands.

Edgar Astorga, Board Member


Class of 2012, 2016

Edgar Astorga graduated from CSUSB in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science concentrating in Environmental Health Science and a minor in Chemistry, and in 2016 with a dual MBA concentrating in Entrepreneurship and Management. He became a board member of the Latino Alumni Chapter in 2020 and coordinates the virtual Cafecito monthly socials to keep our alumni community connected and reachable to current students. One of his goals as a board member is to connect our students with possible mentors and professionals in the field that relate to them by sharing the challenges they have faced throughout their professional careers and give them real-world advice. He has been employed at the CSUSB since 2012 in various offices. He currently forms part of the Office of Government Relations. His community involvement includes the Association of Latino Faculty, Staff and Students at CSUSB, he is an ally to the CSUSB Undocumented Student Resource and Success Center, Chicano Latino Caucus of San Bernardino County, the Los Angeles Poet Society, Tzu Chi Foundation Clinic, and Sigma Nu Tau, the Entrepreneurship Honor Society. Edgar's interest and hobbies include the arts such as poetry, dance, art museums, attending cultural open market events, and space science. He plays the guitar, translates Latin American poetry from Spanish to English to share at open mic events, loves to go out on random trips to explore, meet people, and make new friends and is an automotive enthusiast. His favorite piece of art is the Alexander Mosaic, his favorite musical group is Los Tigres del Norte, and he knows someday he will own a '71 Cuda and/or an FC RX7.

David Quiroz, Board Member


Class of 2000, 2005

David was born in San Bernardino and has spent his entire life in the Inland Empire.  He began working for San Bernardino County in 1999 and has worked for several Departments in his 19 years of public service.  He’s currently the Division Manager for Personnel and his staff provides support to over 5,400 County employees in various human resource-related areas.  David attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Social Work from Cal State San Bernardino in 2005.  In 2010, David earned his Master’s Degree from Cal State San Bernardino in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.  In 2011, David was recognized in as one of the area’s “Top 30 Under 30” by Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter for his community work and commitment to the area’s Social Service programs.  He particularly enjoys mentoring and currently does so through San Bernardino County’s MLA and LIA programs, San Bernardino Valley College’s Puente program, and through Cal State San Bernardino.
