Listed below is a general overview of the Parent and Family Orientation Program. When you arrive for your orientation session you will receive a more detailed session schedule. The schedule is subject to change before the orientation sessions begin.
A Spanish-language orientation program is also offered for our parents and family members who would be more comfortable receiving information in Spanish.
Parent & Family Orientation Program
- Orientation Check-in & Breakfast – Family members will receive orientation materials, meet with Orientation Leaders, and meet other parents and family members of new CSUSB students. Check-in begins at 8:00 AM in the Santos Manuel Student Union South.
- Welcome – Receive a warm welcome from President Morales, learn about the day's schedule, and meet the Orientation Team.
- Financial Aid & Scholarships & Student Financial Services - Paying for College – Learn about Financial Aid and Scholarship opportunities to help your student understand the finances of attending CSUSB and processes and deadlines to meet financial obligations.
- CSUSB Academic Overview – Learn about the academic requirements your student will need to graduate with a bachelor's degree from CSUSB. You will also learn about academic support programs to assist your students through the demands of college.
- Lunch – Enjoy our on-campus “all you care to eat” dining facility, Coyote Commons, with eight different food stations to serve you.
- Campus Department Resource Fair – Learn about some of the many campus department, offices, and program resources that are available to you to help support your student.
- Campus Safety & Transportation & Parking – Safety is a top concern for parents and families. Learn about ways our university keeps your students and their property safe on campus. If your student is commuting to campus, parking and alternate transportation methods will be useful information.
- Student Involvement and Support Services - Student Affairs enriches your students’ experience and engages students in activities in both the campus and the surrounding community. Learn about the various offices that support students in need and creates an environment that enhances their experience at CSUSB.
- Supporting Your Student’s Transition - Students aren’t the only people experiencing some type of transition, you will too! Your role will change as a family member. Hear from our current students on what their transition was like as a first year student at CSUSB.
