CSUSB Symphonic Band

Dr. Nicholas Bratcher, conductor

The Symphonic Band is the premier wind band of Cal State San Bernardino. With a goal of developing and refining individual and ensemble musicianship skills, the Symphonic Band is comprised of the finest wind and percussion students within the Department of Music as well as throughout the CSUSB campus. Membership is open to all majors, with a chair placement audition held at the beginning of the fall semester and as vacancies arise. The CSUSB Symphonic Band strives to deliver engaging performances that are artistic, expressive, and polished. The ensemble presents its audiences with a wide variety of repertoire including chamber music, transcriptions, contemporary music, and works from the standard wind band repertoire. Symphonic Band meets during the fall and spring semesters (M/W 1:00 p.m.- 2:50 p.m.) and performs several concerts each academic year. The CSUSB Symphonic Band were 2019 finalists in the American Prize Non-Profit National Competition for College Wind Bands and were invited as one of four collegiate ensembles in America to perform in the Inaugural Emerald Isle Wind Festival in Ireland. Previous performances have included the California Music Educators Association Conference and regional recruitment tours throughout California.
