Presenters will provide information on various forms of financial aid including Cal Grants, Pell Grants, Board of Governors Grants, and loan options. You will learn about the California Dream Act and AB 540 Legislation and support programs for DREAMers as well. you don't want to miss out on this information!

La abogada Rosa Elena Sahagún compartira su experiencia la cual empezó como niña indocumentada. La abogada Sahagún compartirá información sobre los cambios migratorios que benefician a los estudiantes al igual que impartirá la importancia del servicio comunitario. El foro incluirá el tema del fraude: como prevenirlo y que hacer si has sido víctima de engaños con respecto a tu caso de inmigración. Además, la abogada Sahagún compartirá la importancia del voto y lo que la comunidad indocumentada puede hacer para movilizar el voto entre la comunidad ciudadana.

The Office of Pre-College Programs is a new department on campus that is dedicated to preparing students for success in their pursuit of a higher education. The morning workshop will focus on how parents can help their child(ren) get into college. It will focus on how parents can do to help students prepare, how financial aid can help students go to college for free, and what things are important for parents to understand about the application process. The afternoon workshop will focus on what students can do to better positions themselves for applying for and going to college. It will focus on what kind of high school classes students need, what types of qualifications (e.g., GPA) will lead to which colleges, and what students can do to prepare for entrance exams such as the SAT/ACT.

The earlier you being strategizing your pathway to college, the more financially successful you'll be as a college applicant. Don't get caught off guard! As a middle school student there are some strategic maneuvers you can do NOW that will pay off big time by high school. In this workshop you'll learn secrets from a college admissions expert that will help you avoid some costly mistakes. This is not a financial aid workshop.

This two-part session helps parents understand their children (particularly young teens), and gain effective skills to help navigate these challenging years. Part 1 covers some of the key changes in thinking and behavior that are common in your teens and what4 teens need the most from parents. Part 2 covers effective strategies for parents in setting limits and getting children and teens to cooperate.
