Certificate Overview

The rapidly expanding field of E-Learning hinges on mastering both the human and technological elements required to create dynamic online learning environments. Admission Categories

We have two categories of students in our e-Learning Certificate program. These categories are:

  • Current CSUSB student
  • Non-CSUSB student

CSUSB Student

Students currently enrolled in an academic program at California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) have the opportunity to enhance their marketability by adding the certificate program to their current studies. If you're interested in enrolling in our E-Learning courses, please refer to the Certificate Requirements section above to add courses through your MyCoyote account. Once you've completed the necessary courses, you can submit your application here to obtain your certificate. 

 

Non-CSUSB Student

If you are not currently enrolled in any programs at California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB), you may register for the courses via Cal State Apply. Application Deadlines:

  • Spring 2025: 12/01/2024
  • Fall 2025: 07/31/2024
  • Spring 2026: 12/01/2025

Admission Requirements for Non-CSUSB Students

  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 (The admissions process considers a variety of factors, including personal attributes, past experiences, and future goals, to ensure a good fit for the program.)
  • Unofficial Transcripts: Required from each college or university attended since high school.
  • Statement of Purpose: Outline your motivation for pursuing the E-Learning certificate and how it aligns with your professional goals.

 

Required Courses Fully Online (12 Units)

  • ETEC 5010 Foundations of eLearning (3 units)

    Introduction to theoretical and practical foundations of e-Learning. Explorations of history, trends, current issues, and practices of e-Learning. Formerly ETEC 501. (3 units) Can be replaced with ETEC 5000 

  • ETEC 5410 E-Learning Design and Development (3 units)

    Examination and application of e-Learning design and development principles and practices to produce online courses. Formerly ETEC 541. (3 units)

  • ETEC 6480 E-Learning Delivery and Evaluation (3 units)

    Examination of various models, strategies, and issues of e-learning delivery.
    Exploration of evaluation on student learning and e-Learning effectiveness. Formerly ETEC 648. (3 units)

  • ETEC 6740 E-Learning Technology and Media (3 units)

    Examination of current technology tools and instructional methods for effective instruction on e-Learning. Formerly ETEC 674. (3 units)

Transfer Credit Policy

Candidates must earn at least two-thirds of their certificate-applicable credits directly from CSUSB.

From Certificate in E-Learning to Master's Degree in IDT

If you begin the certificate program and develop an interest in the field of Instructional Design and Technology (IDT), you might decide to pursue a Master's degree in IDT. To do so, you will need to apply and gain admission to the MA in IDT program through Cal State Apply
