2020 Federal Title IX Regulations
On January 9, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky issued a ruling vacating the Biden Administration’s 2024 Title IX regulations in their entirety. On January 31, 2025, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights issued a Dear Colleague Letter clarifying that—effective immediately—it will be enforcing Title IX under the provisions of the 2020 Title IX regulations.
The Nondiscrimination Policy and Procedures (effective August 1, 2024) remain in effect. While we recognize the importance of the federal regulations, it's essential to note that CSUSB has long prioritized a comprehensive approach to addressing relationship violence and sexual misconduct. Our existing policy exceeds the minimum requirements outlined in the 2020 federal Title IX regulations and is tailored to the specific needs of our campus community.
