
On Sept. 28 at the Alumni Center, Cal State San Bernardino hosted the New & Newly Promoted and/or Tenured Faculty Brunch, bringing together faculty and administrators to celebrate newly hired, tenured and promoted faculty members.

"I believe in investing in myself and encouraging others to do the same. Education and continuous learning are crucial for personal and professional growth," said Gurpreet Gill ’23, CSUSB MBA alumnus and captain in the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff.

Jose Navarrete-Cruz and Francisca Beer (finance and accounting) were interviewed for separate articles on topics related to personal finance, such as credit cards and how biases influence purchasing decisions, and Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus) discussed what drives antisemitism.

This year’s theme, "The Synergy of Self-Advocacy, Confidence Building, and Personal Branding in the Digital Era," will focus on equipping attendees with the skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive online environment. The event, free and open to the public, will take place on Oct. 24 from 5:30.-8:15 p.m. at SMSU-South and via Zoom.

The National Science Foundation has awarded Cal State San Bernardino $308,000 to examine the role of environmental justice in clean energy technologies, and Elizabeth Castillo, assistant professor of management at Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration, will be the principal investigator.

On Sept. 19, 350 students gathered at Cal State San Bernardino’s Santos Manuel Student Union South Event Center for the Tech & Cybersecurity Fair. The event, which brought together students and industry leaders from the tech and cybersecurity sectors, was organized by the Career Center and the Center for Cyber & AI.

The Tech & Cybersecurity Fair 2024 will take place on Sept. 19 from noon-3 p.m. at the Santos Manuel Student Union South Event Center.

James Fenelon (sociology) will be a panelist at a Sept. 12 program discussing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons crisis, Kimberly Collins (public administration) co-authored a new study about building infrastructure for the electrification of the trucking industry, and Jennifer Andersen (English) wrote an opinion piece on name-calling in political discourse.

TC Corrigan (communication studies) discussed what is being done to support local news organizations as Inland Empire news outlets shrink their staffs and news coverage, and Mike Stull (entrepreneurship) spoke about IECE’s Veteran Entrepreneurship Program and the Mini MBA Course at the Palm Desert iHUB.
