Tutoring Center

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Tutoring Center provides assistance in Writing, Statistics, and Research Methods to students majoring within SBS or enrolled in SBS courses. All tutors can meet face-to-face, online, and through e-tutoring.

Writing Tutoring

Writing tutors can help with a full spectrum of writing issues including:

• Writing thesis statements and introductions
• Fine-tuning drafts for minor errors
• Revising drafts for major issues
• Incorporating data and sources, especially in APA or Chicago style
• Improving grammar through worksheets, handouts, and individualized tutoring for specific issues

Statistics Tutoring 

Statistics tutors can provide guidance in various areas including:

• Descriptive & Inferential Stats (e.g., Z-scores, T-tests, ANOVA, Regression and more)
• Statistical Analysis Software (e.g., SPSS and R)
• Data Management
• Data Screening and Cleaning

Research Methods Tutoring 

Research Methods tutors can provide assistance with the following:

• Research project development support
• Guidance for collecting information or evidence Instruction on developing a literature review
• Help with finalizing a research project presentation, poster, or other creative work
