Welcome to the Extended Reality for Learning (xREAL) Lab!
The xREAL Lab is a collaborative interdisciplinary technology innovation hub. It brings together faculty, students, staff, and community partners to explore the frontiers of teaching and learning with leading-edge technologies such as immersive media (virtual reality, mixed reality, augmented reality, also known as "extended reality" or XR), artificial intelligence ("AI"), various forms of human-machine communication ("HMC"), and robotics.
The xREAL Lab plays a unique role in the CSUSB campus community by offering the following services:
- We provide professional development for faculty interested in adopting classroom applications that use our focus technologies.
- Every year, in collaboration with the Multimedia & Immersive Technologies Department (Information Technology Services), our team works under faculty direction on a small number of projects to develop XR- or AI-enhanced learning environments and assist with their classroom integration. Here is a list of previous projects.
- We support faculty conducting research with or about our focus technologies by developing prototypes (e.g., XR-enhanced experimental stimuli) and providing IRB assistance.
- We offer a project-based learning experience to undergraduate students interested in assisting our team. See a few student testimonials here.
Stay up to date with all our projects and events by following us on various social media platforms!
