Mail Services uses a few carriers for overnight delivery, depending on destination, services requested, and the items being sent. The primary carriers that we use are the U.S. Postal Service, Federal Express (FEDEX), and United Parcel Service (UPS).
Cut-off Time:
- Domestic or International Overnight, 2nd Day, 3 Day
- 2:00 pm
- Prepaid Packages
- 3:00 pm
- Personal
Requirements :
All overnight letters and packages should be accompanied with a properly filled out form: CSUSB 45: Request for Overnight Mail/Delivery Service (also available from Campus Stores in paper form). However, if you do not have a form, please attach a note to the letter or package or advise our mail room staff accordingly. Your department's chargeback number is also needed for the shipment.
International letters (documents) usually do not require additional information. However, international packages containing merchandise must include a detailed list of contents, with quantity and value of each individual item. Non-document items being sent overseas will be subject to customs declarations both here and in the destination country.
Addressing :
FEDEX and UPS carriers do not deliver to Post Office boxes. Pieces addressed to a Post Office box will be sent through the U.S. Postal Service.
International pieces must have the destination address in English. The city, region/province, and country must clearly evident. It is advisable to include the recipient's telephone number, fax number or e-mail address should customs officials need to inquire about a package.
International service typically takes longer depending on customs and the destination country.
