Tuition and Fees Refunds

Tuition and refunds for the MSPA program are issued in accordance with the policies and procedures outlined below. The policies are largely based on when the notification of withdrawal is made in relation to the first day of classes and the census deadline.

Please note that a student withdrawing from classes is considered to be withdrawing from the program. No record will be made of enrollment (no grade of "W") in courses that are dropped by or before the specific semester's census date.

Census Deadline

For the MSPA program, the census deadlines for each semester are listed in the table below. Refund amounts are based on the census deadline dates.

Drops after the census deadline are considered withdrawals. If you need to withdraw from a class or classes, you will be required to provide supporting documentation in order for the request to be considered. Furthermore, withdrawals will require the approvals of the course instructor and the Program Director of the MSPA program. The online Petition to Drop After Census form is required to request a withdrawal. 

Students will receive a grade for every course in which they are shown to be officially registered. Therefore, it is the students’ responsibility to drop by the census deadline from any class(es) which they do not plan to attend and complete. Please note that not attending a class, notifying the instructor, stopping payment on a check/credit card, or failure to redeem a check that was returned for insufficient funds, does not constitute officially dropping the course, or release students from the financial obligation to pay the course fees.

Refunds

Courses dropped prior to the census deadline are eligible for a full or partial refund based on the guidelines below. To receive a refund of tuition and fees paid, a student must complete and submit the College of Extended and Global Education online drop request form to the MSPA program’s Administrative Support Coordinator to cancel the registration and drop all courses. 

Full Refund

Course drop requests received in writing prior to the start of the term/session will be eligible for a 100% refund less a $25 administrative fee.

Students may also receive a refund of tuition and fees under the following circumstances:

• The tuition and other program or course fees were assessed or collected in error;
• The course or program for which the tuition or program or course fees were assessed or collected was cancelled; or
• The student was activated for compulsory military service.

Partial Refund

Course drop requests received in writing after the course start date but before the census deadline are eligible for a 65% refund less a $25 administrative fee.

No Refund

No student withdrawing after the semester’s census deadline will be entitled to a refund of any course or program tuition and fees. Course drop requests received after the census deadline are not eligible for a refund, but they will still require a Petition to Drop After Census form to be submitted.

Refund Checks

Refund checks are mailed approximately two to four weeks after the withdrawal request is received by the College of Extended and Global Education. Refunds for credit card payments are credited back to the original card number.

Refund Appeals

Students who are not entitled to a refund as described above may petition for a refund demonstrating exceptional circumstances. Students may email or mail an appeal along with any applicable documentation to the following locations:
