The role of traditional culture and cultural reform in Maoist China will be the topic of the next Modern China Lecture presented by Maggie Greene, assistant professor of history at Montana State University.
Along with offering a wide range of courses this summer, CSUSB has allocated more than $2 million in additional financial aid, including funds toward the Graduation Initiative Grant for seniors graduating in summer 2020.

Brian Levin (criminal justice) is the recipient of the 2020 Wang Family Excellence Award from the California State University, and David Yaghoubian (history) will moderate a program focusing on U.S.-Iran relations at 6 p.m. today on campus.
“Hollywood Chinese: A Book and Film Presentation with Oscar®-nominated Filmmaker/Author Arthur Dong,” will take place Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the university’s John M. Pfau Library.

Author and journalist Dr. Gareth Porter will be the featured speaker at the talk sponsored by CSUSB’s Center for Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. The event is free and open to the public.
The CSUSB community gathered on Dec. 16 to honor the memory of Abhishek Sudhesh, a graduate student from India, who was killed off campus on Thanksgiving Day. His family, in partnership with CSUSB, established a scholarship fund in Sudhesh’s name.
The Center for Global Innovation ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. outside on the shaded plaza.
