After being accepted into four prestigious doctoral programs, Ariana Cano, CSUSB alumna and communication studies adjunct professor, will attend the Institute of Communications Research in the College of Media at the University of Illinois.

State Sen. Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) served as the keynote speaker at CSUSB’s 2020 Womxn’s Leadership Conference on May 22, where she offered words of encouragement, advice and personal anecdotes.

The conference, with the theme “The Future is Female: 100 Years of Voices,” will be held virtually Friday, May 22, and will feature a keynote from Senator Leyva, panel discussion and breakout sessions.

David Yaghoubian (history) discussed U.S. efforts to block an emergency loan to Iran to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and Ahlam Muhtaseb (communication studies, director of the CSUSB's Center for Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies) was interviewed for the program “Palestine Files" to discuss a United Nations report that listed more than 100 companies that do business in the occupied West Bank.

Luna, sophomore goalkeeper and a CCAA All-Academic, is one of 10 women in the running to be named the 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar of the Year.
