“Balance isn’t levered by you alone,” Howroyd said on Jan. 30 in the university’s Santos Manuel Student Union. “You got to be thoughtful that somebody else is winning along with you.”
The group, welcomed by university President Tomás Morales on Jan. 30, met with the CSUSB Veterans Success Center, Victor Valley Community College Veteran Services and Los Angeles Mission Community College Veterans Resource Center.

Businesswoman, educator, author and one of America’s most successful female entrepreneurs, Janice Bryant Howroyd, will speak at CSUSB on Thursday, Jan. 30.
The CSUSB community gathered on Dec. 16 to honor the memory of Abhishek Sudhesh, a graduate student from India, who was killed off campus on Thanksgiving Day. His family, in partnership with CSUSB, established a scholarship fund in Sudhesh’s name.
CSUSB was listed at No. 6 in CollegeNET’s 2019 Social Mobility Index, which measures the extent to which a college educates more economically disadvantaged students at lower tuition and graduates them into good paying jobs.
The event, which was the largest mixer of the year, recognized Rusty Bailey, Riverside mayor and CSUSB alumnus, for his leadership and dedication to the region.
More than 1,100 students participated in CSUSB’s 19th December commencement during three graduation ceremonies on Dec. 7.
