
CSUSB’s Fall Preview Day for prospective students will be on Oct. 26 in San Bernardino and Nov. 9 at the Palm Desert Campus. These events will showcase the university’s academic programs and resources through workshops, campus tours and opportunities to connect with current students, faculty and financial aid experts.

Following the screening, filmmakers Sergiho Roosblad and Mike Shum will join the Conversations on Race and Policing hosts to discuss their work. The presentation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday on Zoom, and is free and open to the public.

The Scholarship Success Summit: Your Path to Higher Education will provide vital academic and financial resources to local African American high school students on Oct. 15 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Lacey Kendall (communication studies lecturer) will serve as host of Growing Inland Achievement’s summit today and Wednesday in Riverside, Treasure Ortiz (public administration lecturer) is on the Nov. 5 ballot for the San Bernardino City Council’s Ward 7, and Alex Lara (education lecturer) also is on the ballot, running for re-election for the Redlands Unified School District’s Board of Trustees’ Area 4.

Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus), was interviewed about the increase in antisemitic incidents in the past year and on the diverse membership of a white supremacist group, and Meredith Conroy (political science) was interviewed and wrote about the lack of gender parity between the Democratic and Republican parties.

Sam Buenrostro, superintendent of the Corona-Norco Unified School District, was honored by the University of La Verne’s LaFetra College of Education as one of three of its inaugural Distinguished Education Doctoral Alumni. Buenrostro earned a doctorate in education from LaFetra in 2012.
