CSUSB alumni Amanda Fernandez ’16 and Aimee Alvarez ’11 have partnered with the Department of Communication and Media on "Coyotes to Hollywood and Beyond," an initiative, which provides a major-media internship pipeline for CSUSB students seeking internships in Hollywood, Burbank and Palm Springs.

CSUSB is partnering with Barstow Community College to make higher education more accessible to students in the High Desert region by offering four in-person general education courses for fall 2024 semester. These courses are available to enroll in now.

Project RAISE (Retention and Achievement for Introductory STEM English Learners), a five-year Institutional Transformation Project funded by the National Science Foundation, will host the inaugural I.E. Summer STEM Community event on June 1 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cal State San Bernardino and its Palm Desert Campus will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. The university will reopen for business on Tuesday, May 28. University Police will remain on duty on all days when the campus is closed.

A group of students, faculty, staff and alumni have been playing informal pickup basketball games at the campus Recreation and Wellness Center, and they are welcoming more to join the fun. Actual basketball skills are recommended but not required.

Meredith Conroy (political science) participated on a 538 live blog following primary and special elections in in Georgia, Idaho, Oregon, Kentucky and California, Stuart Sumida (biology) was mentioned in a podcast by the head animator of “Kung Fu Panda 4,” and Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus) was interviewed about extremism in politics.

CSUSB alumnus Jay Gerren had his most recent film, “Bar Daddy,” screened at the Pan African Film + Arts Festival in LA in February. The event is among the largest African American film festivals in the nation.
