Cal State San Bernardino has been ranked No. 1 in California and No. 12 nationwide in Military Times’ 2024 Best for Vets: Colleges rankings. CSUSB is the only California State University to make the top 100, marking the 11th consecutive year the university has been among the top institutions in the country for supporting military service members and veterans.
Military Times is one of the nation’s most trusted sources for independent news and information for service members and families. The rankings are created by surveying schools about their veteran programs. Over 300 colleges and universities were evaluated based on their efforts to support military-affiliated students.
In their assessment, Military Times comprehensively looked at student success metrics, military-specific resources, admissions and registration policies, human resources and other factors from the colleges and universities to determine its national rankings. In 2024, a deeper level of categorization in the scoring was created to better distinguished the different levels of educational opportunities at each institution.
"The staff of the Veterans Success Center are proud to be recognized with this honor. Many of the selection criteria are items that we oversee directly or have some jurisdiction over,” said Agustin Ramirez, director of CSUSB’s Veterans Success Center. “We work tirelessly to support our students and their families, to create a space that fosters growth and exploration.
“But we can't take sole credit. This is a testament to the commitment CSUSB has made to our service members and their families,” he added. “From pre-admission to post-graduation, from facilities to streamlined administrative processes, it takes members from all facets of our campus community to make this happen. It is a collective effort.”
The rankings, which serve as a comprehensive guide for veterans, provide detailed information about each school’s services for veterans and offer practical insights to help veterans make informed decisions about their career planning, as well as how to use the education benefits they earned through military service.
