The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) is presenting Museum Career Week, a one-week series of workshops and hands-on activities to prepare attendees for a career in museums. The week-long event begins today, Monday, Feb. 18, and runs through Thursday, Feb.21, and will have morning sessions from 10:30-noon and afternoon sessions from 1-3 p.m. There is a career for everyone in museums, from accountants to woodworkers. Museum Career Week will enable visitors of all majors and backgrounds to engage with professionals, ask questions and perform hands-on activities. Students will develop professionally to become well-rounded and well-guided to pursue their careers by either interning, starting entry-level museum positions or continuing their education. Workshop attendees will learn about conservation, curation of both collections and exhibitions, education in museums. A special session will be focused on professional skills for visual artists hoping to display their work in museums. Museum professionals from the Mission Inn Museum, the Lancaster Museum of Art and History, and more will be present to share their past education and experiences, and to answer questions. Additionally, afternoon workshops will be held by CSUSB Career Center staff to cover topics such as drafting a resumé and cover letter, interviewing skills, how to network and more. This program is generously supported by Intellectual Life funds. The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art is a nationally recognized museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The only accredited art museum in San Bernardino, RAFFMA has accumulated a permanent collection of nearly 1,200 objects focusing on Egyptian antiquities, ceramics and contemporary art. Located at Cal State San Bernardino, RAFFMA houses the largest permanent and public display of Egyptian art in Southern California. General admission to the museum is free. Suggested donation is $3. Parking at Cal State San Bernardino is $6 per vehicle and $3 on weekends. The museum is open Monday – Wednesday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday, noon-8 p.m. and closed Friday and Sunday.
