Master of Fine Arts student Keleigh McMullen is presenting her thesis exhibition, “These Things Happen,” on April 10-18 at Cal State San Bernardino’s Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA). The opening reception will take place on April 10 from 4-6 p.m. in the Dutton Family Gallery, and it is free and open to the public.

“My artwork becomes a sort of voyeuristic experience,” said McMullen, who is set to graduate in May. “I’m detached, you’re detached, and yet we’re still present in the whole experience. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable, and it’s okay to find the veins of humor in the work as well.”

This thought-provoking perspective highlights McMullen's unique approach to art, cultivated over nearly a decade of dedicated practice. Her ceramic artwork takes form in a variety of distorted scales, visually echoing familiar objects that viewers will recognize. Each piece is designed to evoke a sense of disorientation, encouraging attendees to reconsider their relationship with the artwork and challenge their comfort and familiarity.
