Dinosaur Excavation

GEOL 3902D Advanced Field Geology

Dinosaur Excavation, or the "Dino Dig", is a two-credit course offered through the Department of Geological Sciences.   The course is held in eastern Wyoming each summer and is open to anyone.  Students in the course will learn how to find, excavate, and identify dinosaur fossils on a private ranch, and how to interpret the paleoenvironment preserved in the surrounding rocks.  In 2023, there will be two separate sessions:  June 30–July 5 and July 7–12.
