CSUSB Geology HSUP Program!

We want more students to learn Geology! Our HSUP program offers high school students college-level geology courses taught by teachers on their own high school campuses. Students receive college credit for their work through CSUSB’s dual enrollment program

Our program currently offers GEOL 1000 Introductory Geology, GEOL 1000L Introductory Geology Laboratory, and GEOL 1020 Plate Tectonics. You can read descriptions of these courses at the top of this page

We currently have HSUP courses at Etiwanda, Oak Hills, and Serrano High Schools, so we have experience to help you establish your own program.  We are happy to help you and your administration through the process.

We are currently accepting new teachers and high schools to our program, and we are ready to support your class, including:

  • curricular and instructional support from our department if desired
  • networking with other HSUP geology teachers in the region
  • a lab manual and supplies
  • CSUSB geology professor and student visits to your classrooms to talk about special topics
  • a pre-designed field trip to the San Andreas fault next to our campus
  • college prep assistance, including hosting student visits to our campus and career counseling for careers in geology

Interested teachers and school districts should contact department chair Claire Todd at claire.todd@csusb.edu. We look forward to working with you!
