Additional Thanks to Alexander Dixon for Creating This Year's Award
Alexander Dixon was born in Orange County California in 1994 and earned his BFA with a dual concentration in graphic design and glass from California State University, Fullerton, in 2020. During that time, he found a passion for glass and, since then, has been committed to challenging its conceptions and limitations. Currently, he is a graduate student working toward his MFA at California State University, San Bernardino, where his studio resides. Living in a highly industrialized area, he draws inspiration from quotidian life and the old, desolate environments that surround his hometown of Brea, California. In combining graphic design with three-dimensional form, he creates paradoxical sculptures that construe the line between reality and perception by exploring tension and exploiting conventional notions of glass as a material.
You can see Alexander Dixon in action is his short video on YouTube.
