• Congratulations to Catherine Tamayo, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently appointed Elementary School Principal at Jasper Elementary in Alta Loma School District

• Congratulations to Dr. Audrey Hovannesian who was named ACSA Region 12 Technology Administrator of the Year April 2018.

• Congratulations to Dr. Eyad Alfattal who was selected as the recipient of the Waynne B. James Outstanding Dissertation Award 2018. This award is given to an individual whose dissertation makes an outstanding contribution to the field of global education.

• Congratulations to Courtney Weber, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently appointed Coordinator of Special Education in San Bernardino County Unified School District.

• Congratulations to Frank Ramirez, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently granted tenure at the College of the Desert.

• Congratulations to Brice Scott, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently appointed as Assistant Principal at Mesa Linda Middle School of the Adelanto Elementary School District.

• Congratulations to Matias Farre, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently promoted to the Director of Accounting and Controller at CSUSB.  In his new role Matias will have oversight of a broad area of fiscal services including General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax Services, Student Financial Services, Campus Cashiering, Accounts Payable and Travel Services.

• Congratulations to Karen Childers, current student in the Ed.D. program, who was recently accepted (January 2018) for the Asilomar Women's Leadership Skills Seminar through the California Community College League.

• Congratulations to Ms. Juliet Makapugay, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for acceptance to present at the 16th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Education from January 4-7, 2018. Her presentation title is 'Evidence-Based Practices for Children with Autism'. 

  Congratulations to Ms. Luquanda Hawkins, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for acceptance to present at the 16th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Education from January 4-7, 2018. Her presentation title is 'The Making of the Achievement Gap'.  

2017

• Congratulations to Quinton Bemiller, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who co-presented at the California Guided Pathways Institute #2 in Bakersfield Nov. 30-Dec. 2 2017, on 'Restructuring the Institution Around Communities of Interest/Career Focus Areas'. Quinton co-presented with Dr. Omid Pourzanjani, VP of Instruction at Golden West Community College and president-elect of the Association of California Community College Administrators, who is on special assignment for the Vice-Chancellor in charge of the Digital Futures Lab, working in the California Chancellor's Office.  Quinton will present at the Guided Pathways Institute #3 in Coronado (San Diego) Feb. 8-10. Quinton is also Leading the Middle Academy, organized by the RP Group (Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges) where his application was submitted and accepted. The college's goal is to create a five-year plan on how Guided Pathways will affect Teaching & Learning and Professional Development at Norco College. The director is Dr. Robert Gabriner, who is a professor in the Ed.D. program (and former director) at San Francisco Sate University. Quinton will be at the Academy Feb. 22-24.

• Congratulations to Jesse R. Neimeyer-Romero, current student in the Ed.D. program, who received a grant for $2,000 from the SSI Culminating Project Funds December 2017 and who will be attending the High Impact Practices in the States Conference next month at CSU Dominguez Hills.

• Congratulations to Dr. Mauricio Cadavid, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumnus, who was recently featured as the staff spotlight, Received the President’s Distinguished Service Award, Received a Delphi Study Expert award, was accepted to present the Quality Matters Conference on “Elevating Quality”, and Conducted three seminar series on educational practices influence on learning behavior and discipline in Cuba.

• Congratulations to Carl Christman, current student in the Ed.D. program, for receiving a CSUSB Office of Student Research grant 2017-2018.

• Congratulations to Debra Mustain, current student in the Ed.D. program and Dean, Community Partnerships & Workforce Development at Norco College, for receiving a CSU Collaborative for the Advancement of Linked Learning grant for Fall 2017-Spring 2019.

• Congratulations to Maria Domingo and Fernando Villalpando, current students in the Ed.D. program, for receiving SSI Graduate Innovative Scholars Funds 2017-2018.

• Congratulations to Herbert English, Jr., Dean, Student Equity and Success at Victor Valley College and student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program for being named one of 14 of the 2017 Lakin cohort fellows with the Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership (Lakin Institute). The Presidents’ Round Table (PRT), a national association dedicated to supporting African-American leaders and students in community colleges, presents the Lakin Institute annually.

• Congratulations to Fernando Villalpando who recently received an award (2017-2018) to be a part of the 2017 AAHHE Doctoral Graduate Fellows. 

• Congratulations to Ms. Juliet Makapugay, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently appointed Assistant Principal of Evans Ranch Elementary and Ridgemoor Elementary school.

• Congratulations to Dr. Eyad Alfattal, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumnus, who has authored an article titled 'International students' college choice is different!' recently published in the International Journal of Educational Management (IJEM). 

• Congratulations to Ms. Juliet Makapugay, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for acceptance to present at the California Council of Exceptional Children Conference in San Diego, California on October 20-21, 2017.

• Congratulations to Ms. Misty Levingston, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently appointed Assistant Director for Multicultural Affairs at the University of La Verne. 

• Congratulations to Dr. Christine Bender, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumna, who was recently appointed Director of Residential Life, University of California, Riverside. 

• Congratulations to Dr. Eyad Alfattal for receiving the College of Education 2016-2017 Outstanding Graduate Student Award for the Doctoral Program.

• Congratulations to Ms. Dorry Lillard, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for her recent presentation on 'Restorative Practices in New Zealand Schools' at the 31st annual international conference for Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars at CSU Long Beach, June 2-3, 2017.

• Congratulations to Ms. Olivia Rosas, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, and her colleagues for acceptance to present at the 2017 Coalition of Urban & Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) Conference in Denver, Colorado from October 9-11, 2017.  Their presentation topic is 'Serving Undocumented Students and their Families'.

• Congratulations to Dr. Tomasz B. Stanek, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumnus, who has authored an article titled 'On David Hume'  recently published in the Wisdom in Education Journal, 2017.

• Congratulations to Ms. Joanna M. Oxendine, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who has authored an article titled 'Critical Analysis of the Master Plan for Higher Education in California' recently published in the Wisdom in Education Journal, 2017.

• Congratulations to Ms. Joanna Oxendine, (Cohort 10) student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for receiving an Office of Student Research Award through the SSI Graduate Innovative Scholars Fund. Thanks to Dr. Edna Martinez, her faculty sponsor. 

• Congratulations to Dr. Edwin Gomez, CSUSB Ed.D. alumnus, who was recently appointed Superintendent of Coachella Valley Unified School District.

• Congratulations to Dr. Ricky Shabazz (Cohort 2), CSUSB Ed.D. alumnus, who was appointed President of San Diego City College (July 2017).

• Congratulations to Mr. Quinton Bemiller, (Cohort 10) student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program and tenured faculty at Norco College, who has been selected to be an Institute Team member for a new state-wide initiative called the California Guided Pathways Project. Norco College was one of only 20 California Community Colleges selected to participate in the California Guided Pathways Project. 

• Congratulations to Mr. Quinton Bemiller (Cohort 10) for his recent feature titled “Advocating for the Arts in the Inland Empire: An Interview with Quinton Bemiller” in Art & Cake, a contemporary arts magazine focusing on the Los Angeles area.

• Congratulations to Ms. Cherina Betters, (Cohort 9) student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for receiving the Mesa View Middle School Teacher of the Year award.

• Congratulations to Ms. Jess Black, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, on the acceptance of her proposal to present at the Holistic Teaching and Learning conference at Southern Oregon University in September 2017. Her proposal is titled 'Creating an Empathetic Classroom'.

• Congratulations to Ms. Erika Tejeda-VanRensburg, current CSUSB Ed.D. student and Assistant Principal of Pinacate Middle School, for being selected as the Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year by the Western Riverside County Association of School Managers (WRCASM). 

• Congratulations to Dr. Courtney Doussett, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumna and Assistant Professor and Department Chair of Kinesiology, for being awarded College of the Desert's outstanding faculty of the year.

• Congratulations to Ms. Mahbuba Hammad, (Cohort 9) current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for receiving the NFMLTA-NCOLCTL (National Federation of Modern Language Teachers Association-National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages) Research Award grant, March 2017. NCOLCTL is the premier organization around the world that focuses specifically on Less Commonly Taught Languages.  

• Congratulations to Ms. Aurora Vilchis, Mr. Fernando Villalpando, Mr. Jesse Felix, Ms. Olivia Rosas, and Ms. Maria Domingo, current students in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, for their participation in the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) conference, March 9-11, 2017 in Irvine, CA. Thanks to the Provost's office for supporting this event and to Dr. Nancy Acevedo-Gil and Dr. Edna Martinez for their mentorship.

• Congratulations to Dr. Frieda Brands, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumna and Director of Lake Elsinore Unified School District, along with her colleagues, who won the 2016 Model of Academic Excellence Award.
• Congratulations to Ms. Mahbuba Hammad, CSUSB Ed.D. student, who received a research award from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages as part of its Research Priorities Initiative. Her research proposal is titled: Harnessing Arabic Literacy Skills with a Leveled-Reading Intervention, February 2017.
