Congratulations to Matias Farre, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who was recently promoted to the Director of Accounting and Controller at CSUSB. In his new role Matias will have oversight of a broad area of fiscal services including General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax Services, Student Financial Services, Campus Cashiering, Accounts Payable and Travel Services.

Congratulations to Quinton Bemiller, current student in the CSUSB Ed.D. program, who co-presented at the California Guided Pathways Institute #2 in Bakersfield Nov. 30-Dec. 2 2017, on 'Restructuring the Institution Around Communities of Interest/Career Focus Areas'. Quinton co-presented with Dr. Omid Pourzanjani, VP of Instruction at Golden West Community College and president-elect of the Association of California Community College Administrators, who is on special assignment for the Vice-Chancellor in charge of the Digital Futures Lab, working in the California Chancellor's Office. Quinton will present at the Guided Pathways Institute #3 in Coronado (San Diego) Feb. 8-10. Quinton is also Leading the Middle Academy, organized by the RP Group (Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges) where his application was submitted and accepted. The college's goal is to create a five-year plan on how Guided Pathways will affect Teaching & Learning and Professional Development at Norco College. The director is Dr. Robert Gabriner, who is a professor in the Ed.D. program (and former director) at San Francisco Sate University. Quinton will be at the Academy Feb. 22-24.

Congratulations to Jesse R. Neimeyer-Romero, current student in the Ed.D. program, who received a grant for $2,000 from the SSI Culminating Project Funds December 2017 and who will be attending the High Impact Practices in the States Conference next month at CSU Dominguez Hills.

Congratulations to Dr. Mauricio Cadavid, CSUSB Ed.D. Alumnus, who was recently featured as the staff spotlight, Received the President’s Distinguished Service Award, Received a Delphi Study Expert award, was accepted to present the Quality Matters Conference on “Elevating Quality”, and Conducted three seminar series on educational practices influence on learning behavior and discipline in Cuba.

The Presidents’ Round Table (PRT), a national association dedicated to supporting African-American leaders and students in community colleges, presents the Lakin Institute annually.
