From March 30-April 8, a group of 18 CSUSB students, alumni, faculty and staff immersed themselves in the rich culture and history of Peru. For those considering a study abroad program, participant and alumna, Melissa Osorio, advised, "Give yourself the opportunity to travel. It’s life-changing. Don’t worry if you’ve never traveled or if perhaps you don’t know anyone, you will be surrounded by kindhearted and friendly people. We all help each other out.”

From Sept. 2-6, five Cal State San Bernardino students, accompanied by Bibiana Díaz, professor of World Languages and Literatures, visited 10 college campuses in Puerto Rico and participated in Hispanic Educational Technology Services’ inaugural “Student Passport: Connect, Learn & Lead” conference.

Five Cal State San Bernardino students, led by Bibiana Díaz, professor of World Languages and Literatures, visited 10 Puerto Rican colleges, attended Hispanic Educational Technology Services presentations and workshops, toured cultural landmarks, and dined with Puerto Rico Secretary of State Licenciado Omar Marrero.

Four CSUSB students have been selected to participate in the prestigious International Research Experiences for Students program funded by the National Science Foundation. The students will study abroad in New Zealand for 10 weeks, where they will collaborate with leading researchers, gaining invaluable insights and expertise in their respective fields.

Cal State San Bernardino was one of 51 higher education institutions selected to receive the Institute of International Education American Passport Project grant, which will enable 25 CSUSB students to obtain their U.S. passport and support their study abroad journeys.

As part of the study abroad program in South Africa, CSUSB students, university President Tomás D. Morales and faculty director Tiffany F. Jones visited the Othandweni Family Care Centre in Soweto, delivering $2,000 worth of diapers, formula, toiletries, school supplies, rice and maize meal with funds donated by community members, President Morales, university staff, faculty and students.

When CSUSB students visited the Orthandweni Family Care Centre in 2019, the delegation of students was able to purchase $2,000 worth of diapers, wipes and space heaters with funds raised by the campus community. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for the 2023 to benefit the orphanage.

A GoFundMe page has been established to raise funds to purchase much needed items for the Orthandweni Family Care Centre, an orphanage that cares for abused, abandoned or orphaned children, and which the students will visit while in South Africa this summer.
