The “Afróntalo” exhibit was the centerpiece of several field trips organized by Cal-SOAP, which brought 15 schools from across the Inland Empire and fourth-12th grade students to CSUSB.

Cal-SOAP (California Student Opportunity and Access Program) partnered with the CSUSB Anthropology Museum to bring over 1,000 elementary, middle and high school students to campus and experience the yearlong exhibit, “Afróntalo.” The exhibit highlights the experiences of four communities in Mexico and 21 Californians, exploring the rich histories, cultures and identities of Afrolatine people.

The third annual smARTshow, a collaboration between CSUSB and Manuel A. Salinas Creative Arts Elementary School, will feature the thought-provoking artwork of talented fourth-graders and be on display at the Garcia Center for the Arts in San Bernardino from May 3-9. The opening reception will take place on Friday, May 3, from 5-7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Master of fine arts student, Mia Hutchinson, will present her thesis exhibit, “Show & Tell”, at RAFFMA’s Dutton Family Gallery from April 11-18. The opening reception, free and open to the public, will take place on April 11 at 4 p.m.

The thesis show for master of fine arts’ graduate student, Sarah Hayashi, titled, “Fragments of Forgiveness,” will explore the intricate relationship between the body and traumas it can harbor. The exhibition will take place at the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art’s Dutton Family Gallery from Feb. 22-29. The opening reception will take place on Feb. 22 at 4 p.m.

RAFFMA reopens for spring semester featuring two new exhibits: “SEAMS: Work by Francis Almendárez” and the student-curated exhibit, “Unfinished: Drawings From Our Collection.” A public reception celebrating the two new exhibitions will take place on Feb. 24 from 1-4 p.m.

The exhibition by Alexander Dixon will run from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2, featuring a series of interactive glass artworks centered around perception and reality. A reception is scheduled for Nov. 30, from 4-6 p.m.

In addition to three new exhibits, Community Day, to be held Aug. 26, will feature a variety of activities that are family-friendly and relevant to people of all ages, such as print making demonstrations, arts and crafts, prizes, refreshments and more.

RAFFMA’s galleries will be filled with a variety of media, subjects, approaches and styles that express a wide range of ideas about traditional and contemporary art.

Original CSUSB undergraduate student artwork will be on display at RAFFMA from May 20-June 24. An awards ceremony will be held this Thursday, May 18, at 6 p.m., followed by a reception at 7:30 p.m.
