Career and Professional Development
STEM Career Panels: Are you interested in learning more about your major and the career opportunities that are available to you with the STEM fields? Attending our Career Panels is a great way to meet current employees, employers, and CSUSB alumni who are working in the hundreds of fields available to you. This is a great way to network, hear from past student experiences, and learn the latest updates in exciting careers. Check out our Science Success Center Events for future dates!
Self-Help Workshops: Students can enhance their personal and professional skills by participating in self-help workshops, such as those focusing on financial literacy, study skills, and time management.
Professional Memberships: Being a student member of a professional group provides valuable benefits, including access to industry-specific resources, networking opportunities, and career development tools. Students typically have the option to join at least two professional groups of their choice, allowing them to build connections and gain insights into their fields of interest.
Undergraduate Research Sponsorship: This program allows students to engage in paid research experiences, providing hands-on opportunities to work closely with a faculty mentor. Through these research projects, students gain practical skills, deepen their knowledge in their field, and develop a strong foundation for a future career as a scientist. The mentorship aspect also offers personalized guidance, helping students navigate the research process and explore their potential in scientific inquiry.
Internships and Scholarships: Internships provide students with practical work experience in their chosen field, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, develop professional skills, and build a network of industry contacts. Scholarships, on the other hand, offer financial support to help students focus on their studies without the burden of tuition costs. Both internships and scholarships play a crucial role in enhancing students' educational journeys, providing them with the resources and experiences needed for academic and career success.
