Dr. Robert Stokes, Director
Robert (Bob) Stokes, Ph.D. came to CSUSB in 2022 to serve as the Chair of the Public Administration Department. He has an extensive background in urban planning and policy research, education and training. His specialty areas are commercial and retail development planning; community health and safety planning; and environmental sustainability planning and evaluation. With a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Policy from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ) he has performed funded research and training in cities across the US. He is the co-author of the book, Changing Places: The Science and Art of the New Urban Planning (Princeton University Press), which details effective partnerships between cities and researchers to improve economic, health and safety outcomes for residents.
