
The CSUSB School of Computer Science and Engineering and its military partners offer learning and job opportunities for STEM majors. A scheduled visit to Edwards Air Force Base is set for May 31 for ROTC students and STEM majors in partnership with the university’s Air Force ROTC.

Guillermo Escalante (kinesiology) was a guest on a program focusing on professional bodybuilding, and Yunfei Hou, Amir Ghasemkhani (computer science and engineering), Hani Aldirawi (mathematics), Miranda McIntyre (psychology) and Montgomery Van Wart (public administration) collaborated on research about STEM students’ perceptions of online classes.

Two separate seminars will take place: “Individual Development Plan (IDP) for Undergraduate Students” on Thursday, Oct. 21, and a training workshop for a select group of faculty on Friday, Oct. 22. They are the inaugural events that are part of the College of Natural Sciences’ U.S. Department of Education grant, “PATHS: Proactive Approaches for Training Hispanics in STEM.”

The five-year grant, “Proactive Approaches for Training Hispanics (PATHS) in STEM,” will help increase graduation rates and prepare students for graduate and professional schools.

Brittany Bloodhart, CSUSB assistant professor of psychology, has received a $444,414 grant to work with UC Riverside to reduce gender and sexual harassment in its College of Engineering.

Paloma E. Villegas (sociology), Megan Carol (sociology), Bronson Lim (mathematics), Vipin Gupta (management), Connie McReynolds (education) and Brian Levin (criminal justice) recently shared their expertise in various news media outlets.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. July 15 at Water of Life Community Church’s chapel, located at 7625 East Ave., Fontana.

The goal of the Center for Enhancement of Mathematics Education is to improve readiness for college among students in the region through partnerships with K-12 teachers and school districts, and through specific programs and workshops.
