The university’s Model UN team maintains its tradition of excellence at the National Model United Nations Conference, despite the annual gathering being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cal State San Bernardino Model United Nations team spent its Thanksgiving holiday at Banff National Park for the 2017 National Model UN-Canada Conference, and brought home top awards for its efforts.
The team, representing the country of Jamaica, received honorable mention, and two students earned Outstanding Position Paper honors at the annual conference, which ran from March 25-29.
The Model UN program has a long history and global reputation of excellence. More than awards, it develops a high level of professionalism in its students, who come from all academic disciplines, giving leadership skills.
Kevin Grisham, who is also an associate professor of geography and environmental studies and faculty adviser to the award-winning Model UN and Model Arab League programs, received the award on April 22 in front of his students.
