The Sept. 7 event brought nearly 300 CSUSB administrators, faculty, staff, students and community members together in the Santos Manuel Student Union South to officially break ground for the new 73,337-square-foot Performing Arts Center.

The nearly $127 million construction project will add a new Performing Arts Center and is scheduled to open during the 2024-25 academic year. The ceremony has been moved indoors due to extreme heat in the forecast, and is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Santos Manuel Student Union South.

Nicholas Bratcher (music) directed the first performance of San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra’s Youth Wind Ensemble on June 5, and an article on ancient Timbuktu by Brent D. Singleton (library) was cited in a feature story, and Brian Levin (criminal justice) was quoted in an article about anti-Asian hate crimes in Chicago.

CSUSB’s Opera Theatre presents “I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the sky,” set in Los Angeles circa 1994 during the Northridge earthquake, on Thursday, May 5, and Friday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Recital Hall.
