Major challenges faced by colleges of education, and the accomplishments of CSUSB’s James R. Watson and Judy Rodriguez Watson College of Education, will be highlighted at the “State of the CSUSB Watson College of Education,” set for 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, April 22.
The event is to be held in-person at the Watson College of Education, room CE-105, as well as streamed live on YouTube. Reservations for seats at the free in-person event may be done online at the “State of the Watson College of Education” Eventbrite webpage.
The "State of the CSUSB Watson College of Education" will focus on the current status, challenges and future directions of education programs and institutions. The presentation will explore the college’s impactful work in local communities and its reimagining of the Watson College as a catalyst for transformative change. Grounded in academic excellence, practical relevance, and a commitment to equitable outcomes, WCOE's programs and initiatives equip the next generation of educators, professionals and leaders with the skills and insights needed to innovate and thrive in diverse educational contexts.
College officials will present and discuss the Watson College of Education's accomplishment highlights from the WCOE 2024 Reflections Magazine. The highlights include: credential, master's and doctoral programs; enrollment numbers; faculty research and productivity; major initiatives; regional collaborations with donors; k-12, for-profit, non-profit and community college partnerships.
The program will also discuss the most salient topics at the moment given the current reshaping of education, helping to make sense of the major challenges and whirlwind of news. It will also address how the Watson College of Education is defining the future, building inclusive partnerships, streamlining pathways to credential and degree completion, fostering greater community engagement and influence in educational efforts — guided by the college’s theme, “Strength Through Community — Connect. Lead. Serve.”
