
Stacey Ortiz, program specialist for the Doctorate in Educational Leadership program at CSUSB’s James R. Watson and Judy Rodriguez Watson College of Education, has been named co-chair of the NACADA Region 8 and 9 Conference, set for Anchorage, Alaska, March 17-19.
NACADA supports academic advising in higher education to help student development. It offers a platform for important discussions and resources.
“I am genuinely excited to take on the role of co-chair for the NACADA Region 8 and Region 9 Conference, titled ‘Navigating the Waters for Advising,’ where we will explore innovative strategies and collaborative approaches to enhance the advising experience,” Ortiz said.
An educator committed to equity and inclusivity, Ortiz earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from CSUSB, and her Ed.D. in Leadership for Educational Justice from the University of Redlands. Her research focuses on improving retention for historically underrepresented students. As the campus advisor for Kappa Delta Sorority, Zeta Zeta Chapter, Ortiz is a mentor to sorority members, building a strong community that encourages academic success.
In her role as program specialist in the Ed.D. program at CSUSB, she guides prospective students through the admissions process and provides mentorship throughout their academic journeys within the program, ensuring they have the tools needed for a fulfilling and impactful experience in education and beyond.
